What we collect, and what we don't

This policy covers this website. It does not cover our products (Encludo and the Aware Console), which have their own policies, or work we do inside a client's systems under contract.

Who we are

The short version

• We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising or ad tracking on this site.
• Nothing that measures you loads until you say yes. Declining is a real no, not a quiet yes.
• You can change that answer at any time from Cookie settings in the footer.
• If you never contact us and never accept measurement, we hold no personal data about your visit beyond short-lived server logs — and no third party receives anything about you either.

What we collect

When you send us an enquiry

The contact form collects your name, work email, optionally your phone number, what you need, and your project brief. We use it only to reply to you and to carry on the conversation you started. The legal basis is your request to be contacted (steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract) — not marketing consent, and we do not add you to a mailing list off the back of it.

Submissions are delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, a form-delivery service, which processes the contents in order to send them on. Your message then lives in our email like any other email.

When you accept measurement

Only if you accept, two things start measuring:

• Google Analytics 4 — pages viewed, approximate location from a truncated IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived. It sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to recognise a returning browser. We refuse advertising storage, ad personalisation and ad user data outright, so this measurement is not used to build advertising profiles.
• Our accessibility widget — which assistive features get used (contrast, text scaling, translation, read-aloud), so we can tell what people actually need rather than guessing. It uses a session identifier held in your browser for the length of the visit.

Decline, or simply ignore the banner, and neither one loads: no request is made to Google, no analytics cookie is set, and the widget records nothing. If you accept and later change your mind, we switch measurement off and delete the analytics cookies we set.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat that as a decline and do not interrupt you to ask again.

Things that load on every visit

• Typefaces. The fonts this site uses are served from our own servers, not from Google Fonts. Loading a page therefore does not hand your IP address to a font provider — a small thing, but it happens before any consent banner could reasonably ask you, so the only honest fix was to stop sending it.
• The accessibility widget itself. The widget's code loads from our own servers on every visit so the controls are there when you need them. Its measurement is gated by your answer above; its features are not, because an accessibility control you must first consent to is not an accessibility control. If you use translation, read-aloud, plain-language simplification or image description, the text or image concerned is sent to our service to produce that result.
• Server logs. Our host records requests, including IP address and user agent, to keep the site up and to spot abuse. These are ordinary operational logs, kept briefly and not combined with anything else.

What stays on your device

Your reading preferences and your answer to the consent question are stored in your browser's local storage — pa-theme, pa-consent and the widget's own preference keys. They never reach us; they exist so the site remembers how you like to read it. Clearing your site data removes them, and the consent question will be asked again.

Who else sees it

We share data only with the services that make the site work:

• Web3Forms — delivering contact form submissions.
• Google — analytics only, and only if you accept it.
• Our hosting provider — running the site and its logs.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose data where the law requires it.

Where it goes

We are based in India, and the services above operate internationally, so your data may be processed outside your own country — including in the United States and the European Union. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries: kept while we are in conversation and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we can pick up a thread you started. Ask us and we will delete yours sooner.
• Analytics: retained by Google for 14 months.
• Server logs: kept for a short operational period, typically 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting what was lawful before you did.

For measurement specifically, withdrawing consent takes one click: Cookie settings in the footer of any page.

To exercise any of these, email contact@purpleaware.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not ask you to create an account or use an inaccessible form to make a request — if the way we have offered does not work for you, tell us and we will find one that does.

If you are in the EU or UK and think we have got this wrong, you may complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in India, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

This site is aimed at organisations, not children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and its date. A change that widens what we measure will be put to you as a fresh question, not applied to an answer you gave about something narrower.
